We are over the moon to announce that Help Unify Mankind and Nations has secured funding from National Lottery Awards for All to support Black and mixed-heritage women’s wellbeing across Birmingham and the Black Country. Our project, Bless Up: Rejuvenating Black and Mixed Heritage Women’s Wellbeing project is a game-changer, allowing us to offer even more support and empowerment to Black and Mixed-Heritage women in our community over the next two years.
Fortifying and Expanding Our Online Focus Group
First on the agenda is bolstering our online Black and Mixed-Heritage Women’s Focus Group. We are aiming to welcome at least 20 new members, enhancing our vibrant, diverse community.
We will ramp up outreach to isolated and underserved women, ensuring inclusivity. With top-notch guest speakers addressing crucial topics like preventing knife crime, tackling workplace racism, and promoting teenage sexual health, our focus group will be a beacon of support and wisdom. As one member put it, “This group was a gift sent to me, and I welcome meetings to learn, get advice, and meet like-minded ladies.”
In-Person Wellbeing Workshops
Building on our past successes, we will host eight in-person Wellbeing Workshops, reaching 64 beneficiaries. These sessions will tackle barriers Black women face in accessing appropriate healthcare, particularly mental health services. By partnering with organisations like Mind and Social Services, we will make sure our workshops are informative, inclusive, and transformative.
Expect activities like art and music therapy, nutrition guidance, and mindfulness practices. These workshops will create a warm atmosphere where women feel valued, supported, and empowered to share their experiences.
Cross-Cultural Understanding Workshops
We are also thrilled to deliver two Cross-Cultural Understanding Workshops, as the grand finale to each year of our Bless Up project. These events will bring together diverse communities across Birmingham and the Black Country, promoting shared approaches to wellbeing, mutual respect, and appreciation for different cultures. Through storytelling, poetry, and drama, participants will celebrate cultural richness and foster creative expression.
Launching the Bless Up Podcast
Last but certainly not least, we will soon launch the Bless Up podcast—a platform for women to share their stories, insights, and wisdom with the world. This monthly podcast will be a continuous support pillar, providing personal and professional growth opportunities. By sharing tales of resilience and triumph, we aim to inspire listeners worldwide to embrace their journeys towards wellbeing.
A New Chapter of Empowerment and Wellbeing
This funding from National Lottery Awards for All isn’t just a grant; it’s an endorsement of our mission and a catalyst for change. We’re set to create a lasting impact, empowering Black and Mixed-Heritage women to navigate challenges and thrive in all aspects of life. Together, we’re embarking on a journey of rejuvenation, resilience, and unity.
So, let’s celebrate this incredible milestone and look forward to the transformative journey ahead with the Bless Up project! Keep your eyes peeled to this blog for details of events as soon as they are confirmed.
